About Us and Our Philosophy - Quality, Repurposed, Unique.

Mitten and Sweater

Hello! My name is Rachel Duben Rodriguez and I started sewing more than 40 years ago when my mom took me to Singer Sewing School the summer after 5th grade. I soon fell in love with fabric and I continue to sew, create, recycle and sell everyday.

As a young girl, I told everyone, “I want to be a seamstress when I grow up”.  My dream came true and for more than 15 years, I have been sewing mittens made from recycled wool.  After making thousands of mittens, I now also make fingerless mittens, cashmere scarves, t-shirt blankets and pillows. Being somewhat of a perfectionist in my sewing skills, I can assure you these are the highest quality products in the USA and beyond because they are made with experience and love!

Quality, Repurposed, Unique

Quality - We begin with the hunt for beautiful, name brand, vintage wool sweaters. Sweaters cast aside for various reasons, but if we find the fabric is still beautiful, strong and warm, we have found a treasure!  Next, in the USA, our skilled seamstresses get to work to produce a high quality product, with hand stitching at the cuff and vintage buttons individually picked out to finish off each mitten. “Wow!” “They look amazing.” And, “so beautiful” are comments we most often hear from our customers.

Repurposed ♲ - We transform our vintage treasures into unique, one of a kind mittens and scarves. All our items are washed, dried and mittens are lined with fleece.  So warm, beautiful and eco-friendly!

Unique - Yes, embrace the uniqueness. Each sweater is different, each button is different. These are beautiful boutique items that cannot be mass produced. Your neighbor will not have mittens like yours. As we say, “just like snowflakes, no two pairs are alike”.

I bought a wool sweater 25 years ago on a trip to London. It was too special to give away. I had Rachel make mittens out of it. They were so beautiful and had such a special meaning to me, I cried when I saw them.
